Greetings Sunny,

We're Celebrating!
British Virgin Islands
BVI's 60th Emancipation Festival
photo cred. BVI Tourist Board

This year marks the 60th Anniversary of August Festival here in the Virgin Islands with entertainment, food, drink and cultural events.

Events started in the Festival Village in  Road Town last week, continuing  with the spectacular August Monday parade, The Premier's Cup Horse racing on Tuesday .  Events continue to East End , then on to  the North shore...Carrot Bay (don't miss the donkey races!) and returning back to Road Town for a grand finale on Saturday.

While 1954 was the start of an official Emancipation Festival,  celebrations date back to 1834  when the Emancipation Proclamation was first read on August 1 at Sunday Morning Well in Road Town. With three public holidays combined with the weekend, there is plenty of "time to lime", just relax or enjoy the many cultural events.

August Festival truly offers something for everyone !

30 YEARS

Meet Carol, Retail Supervisor at our Road Town Shop in Tortola. She has been with Sunny Caribbee for an impressive 30 years and counting, honored by the
Government of the BVI
with the 'Service Star' Recognition Award. A native of St. Kitts, she moved to the BVI in 1966 and worked at the Turtle Dove boutique as a shop attendant and also as a nanny for a local family. One part of her job at Sunny Caribbee that Carol truly enjoys is seeing customers from all over the globe return year after year to purchase they're favorite products. I'm pretty sure the customers look forward to seeing her warm, welcoming smile again too.
